A good use for the FIREWOK is to do a simple ceremony, say, on the full moon or in order to manifest change of some kind...
I recommend “a giveaway” when you get a new firewok in acknowledgement for the materials used to make it. This is the simplest form of ceremony and would consist of putting something of value into the fire, with (most importantly) intent, you could use tobacco or chocolate, something you have made, or whatever you want really. I like to keep the fire clean, ie I don’t throw rubbish or cigarette ends into it when I do a ceremony. Ceremonies are a good opportunity to step out of everyday preoccupations and think of the larger picture.
A simple Fire Ceremony could be as follows:
Before lighting the fire, work out your intention for the fire ceremony with anyone else involved, burn some sage, as a small giveaway as you light the fire.
Give thanks for the opportunity to have a fire.
Take a piece of paper and write things you would like to let go of, pain, bad habits and so on. Put it in the fire.
Take another piece of paper and write things down you would like to come about, clean water for everyone, healing of yourself and others, support…and so on. Put it on the fire.
To close the ceremony, give thanks for the element of fire, the wood for burning, the air for breathing life to the fire, the earth for giving you a place to sit, and water of course. Give thanks to whatever else you need to.
